Farhan Akhtar starrer ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ has dominated the charts for the upcoming 15th edition of IIFA (International Indian Film Academy) awards by bagging 15 nominations across various categories for the event which is due to be held in Tampa Bay,Florida later this year.
Directed by Rakesh Omprakash Mehra and written by Prasoon Joshi, ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ is a biopic on former Indian athlete Milkha Singh which went onto gain maximum critical acclaim last year. Lead star Farhan Akhtar has been nominated for the ‘Best Actor:Male’ category and faces competition from Shahrukh Khan(Chennai Express), Hrithik Roshan(Krissh 3),Ranbir Kapoor (Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani), Farhan Akhtar (Bhaag Milka Bhaag), Ranveer Singh (Ram-Leela) and newcomer Sushant Singh Rajput (Kai Po Che).
Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed ‘ Goliyon ki Rasleela-Ramleela’ and ‘Ashique 2’ are at fairly good distance away from ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ having bagged seven nominations each. Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ is closely behind on six nominations.
For the best actor in a female role category, Deepika Padukone remains the outstanding favorite to bag the award facing competition from debutante Shraddha Kapoor(Ashique 2), Nimrat Kaur(The Lunchbox) and Sonakshi Sinha(Lootera).
Runaway hits like ‘Dhoom 3’, ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, ‘Ram-Leela’, ‘Krrish 3’, ‘Kai Po Che’, ‘Chennai Express’ and ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ will be fighting for the most prestigious award for the ‘Best Film’ category.
