Sky Sports reports that Chelsea playmaker Juan Mata is set to complete his move to Manchester United later today for a club record fee of £37 million.
The 25 year old was linked with a move to Manchester United back in summer as a part of a proposed cash plus player swap deal for England international Wayne Rooney but the reports were said to be false by Blues boss Jose Mourinho. However, with chances not coming regularly at Stamford Bridge,Mata has decided to look for a move elsewhere so as to boost his chances for the forthcoming World Cup this summer.
La Liga football analyst Guillem Balague earlier told on Revista de La Liga “The idea is that Mata, who Chelsea are happy to let go, goes to Old Trafford in this transfer window” .
Chelsea have already announced the signing of Mohammed Salah from Basel allegedly as a replacement for the soon to be leaving Juan Manuel Mata. With two signings already made this summer, Mata is now widely being linked with a move to Old Trafford as early as later today.
Meanwhile, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger questioned the “fairness” of the deal and believes that selling a top player to a direct opponent is unfair.
