Another day and another game by champions at display by Indian team. Indian spinners have so far poised a serious threat to opposition batsmen in the tournament with clinical bowling performances by the trio of Amit Mishra, Ravindracharan Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.
Bangladesh started off with attacking mindset as Bhuvaneshwar Kumar was hit for 13 runs in the very first over. Ashwin did the recovery work and from there, the spinner duo of Mishra and Ashwin took charge of proceedings as Bangladeshi batsmen looked in a hurry to go back to the pavilion. Mushafiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah did the damage repair work as Bangladesh managed to pose a decent total of 138/7 in 20 overs.
Indian innings again started with a shocker as Shikhar Dhawan was sent back to the pavilion soon after managing to add just a single to his name. The young duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli kept it going from there with consecutive century partnership in the T20 World Cup with both managing a fifty consecutively. Rohit perished in the end and captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, promoted himself up in the order to get some match practice. And as the leader of the champions has been doing it over the years, he moved his leg and hit Ziaur- Rehman back straight down the ground for a mammoth six to confirm India’s advancement into the semi finals. It was indeed a performance of the champions by Indian team as they managed to move back to Rank 1 in ICC T20 ranking.
Indian team can take a lot of positives from here as they have shown some mastery over the game of cricket during the tournament. Players have been performing as a team with Rohit Sharma coming back in form. And when he is in form, probably he becomes the best of the lot. Nothing is left for Virat Kohli to be bestowed with for his amazingness on the field throughout his career. He has been improving and leaving a mark in every game he plays.
Bowling, which used to be a bigger concern for the team has improved surprisingly in this tournament so far as spinners have managed to create havoc in the opposition side with supreme support from the pacer duo of Bhuvaneshwar and Shami as well. Fielding has been good in patches and that has been the only surprise so far.
Bangladesh will regret being in a hurry in the initial stages as they lost majorityof their hitters in the start with some poor strokes at display. They need to figure out their best eleven as they still have two more games to go.
