India face hosts Bangladesh at the Shere-e-Bangla tomorrow in the ICC World T20 World Cup.
India will look forward to securing 6 points off 3 matches as they prepare to face Bangladesh in their 3rd Group2 match of the Super Ten round in the ICC T20 World Cup tomorrow.
The men in Blue have been an inform side with an all round display on field. Batting, bowling and fielding have been excellent with several players showing the drive and desire to perform both at the individual level and team level.
Amit Mishra has been the pick among the bowlers having scalped a brace of wickets in each match while conceding a total of 40 runs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammad Sami have been the fast bowlers in the side and though they haven’t been spectacular, they have contributed enough to keep their side on the winning side. The turning pitches in Bangladesh favour the spinners and Mishra will again look forward to extracting the most spin out of the ball.
Jadeja and Ashwin complement the spin department but are adept batsmen as well. The lower middle order will be the responsibility of these two.
Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma will be the openers from whom the rest of the team will expect a solid start. Dhoni might consider giving Rahane a chance in the playing XI as Dhawan has been seen to struggle while playing spin early on.
Virat Kohli has been among runs and has continued to impress with commendable batting.
Raina has shown glimpses of his former self again and it is required that he keeps this sprit as he is supposed to be one of the pillars of the middle order. Captian Cool Dhoni has not batted yet in the tournament but will be the pivot for the team as well with his shrewd tactics.
The real concern will be with Yuvraj Singh’s form as he has failed to show his might.
Though the Indians have defeated strong opponents with an uncanny ease yet the tie against Bangladesh should be utilized by the Indians to prepare ahead of the crucial tie against Australia.
Bangladesh on the other hand have lost their only match against West Indies and although the loss has been a disappointment, the team should concentrate on winning the remaining matches as they have to fight against relatively stronger opponents.
Much will be expected out of Iqbal, Shakib-al-Hasan and their captain Mushfiqur Rahim. Team Bangladesh have the required combination of talent and experience but they fall short of the big game mentality. Having been bundled out for a lowly 98 against the West Indies will be a major blow to their confidence as well.
Yes, Bangladesh can always get away with a win but judging by the standards Team India have set of late, it will be a fluke win. Team India will have to play their worst game in the tournament while the Bangladeshis will have to burst into the scene with an extra-ordinary display.
Bangladesh could well fall out of the race for the place for the top two and thus progress to the semis if they lose out on this match against India. India on the other hand will be sitting secure at the top with 6points and even a loss against Australia might not affect their chances.
The men in Blue have the momentum with them while Bangladesh will have to rediscover their game and put in a memorable performances if they want to win this match.
The dew will be a deciding factor which will play a crucial role in fielding especially in the outfield. Any misfielding might decide the fate of the match.
Bangladesh have been the minnows for long. Even after the permission to play test matches, they have not yet won any major international trophies. An ICC T20 WC Trophy will be a good place to start.
