Suarez has been cannoning the Reds forward this season

Yes, Liverpool are finally back in the top four and under Brendan Rodger’s effective style of game play, people are starting to expect a little more from the squad after four years o hard toil to build up their game.

Liverpool have performed extremely well this season with teams finally feeling the fear of hosting Liverpool even at their home grounds again; with 19 goals in away matches the Merseyside team have not been easy to defend against. Kopites now turn up at Anfield with the hope of watching their team dominate the opponent and secure a victory.
The most prolific striker in the league this season has been Luis Suarez. With 21 goals in 16 games so far, he has justified the reason why he is the highest paid player in the club. Sturridge, Henderson, Sterling have been the other players who have created and cashed in on chances along with Suarez. Lucas and Gerrard is the dependable midfield pair now at Liverpool. Victor Mosses and Kolo Toure’s signing has been the greatest disappointment this season so far with none of them showcasing their promise. Glen Johnson, the England international, has come under scrutiny with low key performances and failure to clear the ball in many circumstances.

The best performance of the team this season has been the annihilation of Tottenham Hotspurs at White Hart Lane. With a massive 5-0 score line and a brilliant performance from Suarez(4 goals), it was an embarrassing defeat from Hotspurs.

The worst defeat has come at the hands of Hull City where the team looked out of fuel and a lackluster game play saw them lose 3-1 at Hull City.

The Liverpool defence have painted a weaker picture of itself and they have been breached unexpectedly many times. For a club which aims for a top four finish it’s important that they maintain a near impermeable back four.  Simon Mignolet has impressed in his first season at Liverpool but being the last line of defence he cannot keep out all that is fired at him.

With the mid-season transfer window, Brendan Rodgers was expected to bring in reinforcements. But Chelsea have reportedly reached an agreement of £11mil for Mohamed Salah, the FC Basel winger, for whom Rodgers was aiming.

Liverpool have been successful this season in the EPL, but they require a few reinforcements through new signings or promotion of exciting talent from the youth squad.

All’s well that ends well. Kopites expect a good end to this season.
