Fanspeak: Moyes sacked by Manchester United?

Moyes has been abysmal at United this season

A strong penchant of English tabloids to extract impending football news and rid the the footballing world of a surprise has become a regular occurrence these days . With Premier League format nearing the end of another season, David Moyes’ supposed future at Old Trafford has been reduced to less than jeopardy by the tabloids .With widespread reports of David Moyes having been sacked and Ryan Giggs taking over the managerial reigns on an interim basis at Manchester United, let us see what the club and rival fans have to say about the same.

Krishna Chandra Eluri– Arsenal Fan

With the start they had this season, and the long term contract that David Moyes held, I was certainly hoping he would be staying at Manchester United for more than one season. But sadly, saner minds have prevailed and the owners seem to have decided that Sir Alex Ferguson’s “Chosen One” wasn’t the brightest choice after all! After years of seeing their players, manager and fans poke fun at rivals, and most times unwarranted, it was an immense pleasure to have seen them display footballing ineptitude on such a grand scale. I’ll miss the man, for showing what the Manchester United team really is: a whole lot of talentless players propped up by a fabulous manager that was Fergie.

Bonbon Kayzee– Liverpool Fan

If the news is true, I, like most Liverpool fans would be very upset with David Moyes getting sacked. They have broken so many records this season, he surely deserves another season to break a few more records and to take Man Utd to the next level. It is so much fun to watch a new United , instead of the boring old one which kept on winning. To be honest, this sacking was not if but when would it happen. The season is gone and this just shows that even a club like Utd will not give time to anyone to put their plans into place, its a results business after all and Moyes, with a team that is almost similar to Sir Alex’s has done nothing to prove he is good, enough for the job, certainly not the “Chosen one”.

Avirup Ghosh– Chelsea Fan

David Moyes’ rocky start as manager of Manchester United might come to an end as unconfirmed reports say that he could be sacked ahead of Saturday’s Old Trafford encounter with Norwich City. United were defeated 3-1 at Stamford Bridge with Samuel Eto’o scoring a hattrick, and worse Nemanja Vidic was shown the marching orders towards the end. The defending champions are currently languishing at seventh place 23 points off the top of the table. It has been a pretty forgettable season for the Red Devils. The funny thing is, while #MoyesOut might be a clever hashtag on Twitter and he might be getting the boot, but more and more opposing fans want the embattled Scot to stay on the touchline for Manchester United forever. Chelsea fans cleverly trolled Moyes singing, “David Moyes, David Moyes we want you to staaaaaaay”.

Akshay Gurumoorthi – Manchester United Fan

After taking on from Sir Alex, Moyes has taken the club to a position where it had never gone to in the Premier league era . Such is the happiness in my mind, I wouldn’t care whether or not they win the remaining matches . For seeing Moyes leave finally brings an impending relief to the United loyalists . While the beating of Sir Alex’s final words seem too tough, I’m sure he would excuse us for not supporting the manager . From defending champions to a mid-table side, it hurts . To see the man finally leave, I would definitely say it would bring some solace . While the departure of Moyes would be excellent, the return of the old guard would be the icing on the cake. By old guard, I do not mean Sir Alex. I mean Rene Meulensteen, Mike Phelan, Eric Steele and a certain Paul Scholes if he should avail to United’s requests.
