According to recent media speculation, Chelsea playmaker Juan Mata is close to securing his move to Manchester United as a part of a club record £40m transfer fee.
The 25 year old had fallen out of favor at Chelsea ever since Jose Mourinho took charge and is now desperate for a move away so to keep his World Cup ambitions alive. With new signing Willian having impressed in the first half of the season, the Blues are ready to cash in on the Spain international this winter.
Manchester United have had a lacklustre first half of the season and recently bowed out of Capital One cup following a defeat to Sunderland earlier last night. David Moyes was left to rue another poor performance from the red devils which saw them crash out of both the domestic competitions this season.
However, Moyes confirmed that he is in no hurry to bring in players to the club despite United’s rather abysmal position in the league table.
“I fully understand that supporters are keen to see us freshen up the squad with new faces, but January is a difficult month in which to bring people in,” Moyes told United Review ahead of Wednesday’s Capital One Cup semi-final defeat to Sunderland.
“While we are actively scouting players all the time, a lot of the work we are doing now is preparation for the summer.
“If we can do any business now then we will certainly try to do it, but I will not compromise the standards required for a player that can come into this club and help improve it.”
