David Moyes - Manager under fire?

David Moyes – Manager under fire?

The fear that Manchester United drew in the hearts of its opponents last season, have all but faded this season in the EPL. With Sir Alex Ferguson passing the reigns over to his successor and fellow Scott David Moyes, high expectations were pinned on the latter. But a dismal show from the Red Devils till now has resulted in doubts about Moyes’ ability and his future at Manchester.

But United forward and Netherlands international Robin Van Persie has expressed his support for Ferguson’s successor. Van Persie believes that the new manager needs time to settle down at Old Trafford.Van Persie said,“Moyes needs time, he’s new. The manager is our leading man and he will change things around. We lost too many points this year, but we are doing everything we can to change that.“

Robin Van Persie played a crucial role in helping United lift the title, but this season he has been plagued with an injury. Moyes’ troubles have seem to compound with Wayne Rooney still in discomfort with an abdominal inury. It is a well known fact that Rooney and RVP perform better as partners.

Manchester United have already crashed out of the FA cup and are currently sitting at 7th position with 37 points. Such a dismal show in the league for a team of their stature has left fans aghast. Double trouble for Moyes lies in the fact that Manchester United might lose out on a Champions League berth for next season.

Moyes might find some much needed vote of confidence from his striker’s announcements but with Manchester United facing Chelsea this weekend, he needs to chalk out a winning formula to prevent any further damage to the club and maybe to his term at Old Trafford also.
