The top grosser of 2013, with approximately 274.4 crores in the bag, Dhoom 3 scores high on entertainment, action and Bollywood flavor. With an appealing star cast that consists of Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif playing the antagonists, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra reprising their roles from the previous Dhoom movies; Dhoom 3 was always destined to be a crowd puller. It has been written and directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, the writer of the previous Dhoom movies and produced by Aditya Chopra.
With a net gross of 208 crores, Chennai Express holds the second highest grosser of 2013. Shahrukh Khan, the King Khan of Indian cinema, along with Deepika Padukone play the leads in this comic caper. Directed by Rohit Shetty, the movie displays his trademark nonsensical humour and beautiful locations of Southern India. Along with a catchy Honey Sing song thrown in, Rohit Shetty has created the perfect recipe for a commercially blockbuster movie. King Khan’s charm(even in action sequences) coupled with Deepika’s on screen smoothness creates an entertaining flick that will juggle between romance,action,comedy and drama.
The third in the series after Koi Mil Gaya, this Hrithik Roshan starrer, directed and produced by father Rakesh Roshan,roped in 187.74 crores to secure the third place. With its science fiction storyline and starring Vivek Oberoi, Priyanka Chopra and Kangna Ranaut in the other lead roles, the film appealed to a wider age group. Krrish has its own fandom among kids as the first home grown Indian superhero to have his own movie series. Although Vivek Oberoi’s character Kaal, the villain, is bound to a wheel chair, the film displays Krrish performing some spell binding superhero stunts that is sure to catch the eye.
